My Latest. Dwarven perspective. Born in a surface Dwarven colony with reverence for their mountain origin… She fell into the sea and found herself saved by the back of a giant snapping turtle (I rolled this as a trait and promptly decided this Dorf currently has a phobia of water!).
Born of Stone
Born of Stone,
Weathered by Water,
The crushing waves of the sea…
There alone
This Dwarven daughter
Finds what she’s meant to be…
Turtle’s back,
Turtle’s fin,
Oh how the water breaks…
Body slack,
Vision spin,
Her Lungs with naught but aches…
Raspy breath
On high-backed waves
Ringing in her ears…
Not but death
And lilting graves
Are seen beyond her tears…
One more foot on the mountain please
One more cavern’s whining breeze
Never again a complaint will be
Heard from the likes of me!
One more foot on the mountain please
A warrior’s life I’ll gladly seize!
Never again a complaint will be
Heard from the likes of me!
The song is weak within the night
Still it rolls, still it rolls
Off her tongue despite her plight
Still it rolls, still it rolls
Into the waves of the waiting sea
Destiny, destiny
And heard by her creator be
Destiny, destiny!
One more foot on the mountain high
Just so I don’t idly die!
Never again will I cringe or shy
Or seek a timid alibi
One more foot on the mountain high
Just so I with honor die!
Never again will I cringe or shy
Or seek a timid alibi
Note: I’ve got this one tagged as ‘Setting Specific’, ‘Dungeons & Dragons’, and ‘World of Warcraft’ due to the ‘this Dwarven daughter’ line. None of the rest really is setting specific. ^^
