The Lament of Aerisa Stargazer

I’m afraid ’tis another sad song for today. My bard recently lost her best friend, and try as she might to remember and honor the girl, she can’t help but mourn her too.

The Lament of Aerisa Stargazer

Where have you gone, my cherished friend,
That I cannot see your face again?
Battles rage on in warmth and cold,
But now I’m without my friend so bold.

Waters flow, waters flow;
Words be carried and deeds be known!
You, my dear, were valiant and true,
And now I can’t but honor you.

Given the Sight throughout your life,
Ever you chose to carry it
Where others might, in moments tried,
Push it aside or harry it!

Where have you gone, my cherished friend,
That I cannot see your face again?
How is it I still walk these roads
That we were meant – together – to roam?

You drunken fool, you left without aid
Seeking to halt what would be your fate!
Altering true, the lives of your kin…
I bet you would do the same again…

Wave after wave of Svanir you break,
And time after time they fall in your wake!
Couldn’t you see your fatal mistake
Of taking the task on alone that day?

Where have you gone, my cherished friend,
That I cannot see your face again?
Memories stir with naught but a thought
Of so many battles, together, we’d fought.

First in the fields of Queensdale
When laughter revealed your drunken tale
And gates made the enemy o’er which you prevail
Ah for the fields of Queensdale

Then to the ruins of the plateau
Where ghosts still wander, our friendship did grow
And who could have known what I now know
Of the time we once shared in Diessa Plateau

We began to walk through Gendarren Fields
And so many secrets we left concealed
As our sweat and blood, treasures revealed
Yet what lies uncovered in Gendarren Fields

Where have you gone, my cherished friend,
That I cannot see your face again?
Your glory I’ll sing til the day I die
But always will I miss you by my side

P.S. Queensdale, Diessa Plateau and Gendarren Fields are references to places in ArenaNet’s Tyria. Give them credit for that. Aerisa Stargazer was the character of my friend RumDrum. Give him credit for that!

For me, just credit the arrangement of the words! 🙂
