Divinity’s Reach Carols

This is a bit different… Rather than sharing one song, I’ll be sharing 5 per day for the next five days. The five I share on each of the coming days are the five we’re singing in my GW2 caroling event for Wintersday! Today’s are the songs we are singing in Divinity’s Reach. I hope you enjoy them, and don’t mind the massive disclaimer at the bottom!

Smile of the Six

Six smile upon ye, cheerful may your day be
As they share of their fortune in this winter harmony
Grenth leave you walking in our waking world
Dwayna embrace you with splendors unfurled

Cheer find its way to your heart in these days
And smiles, on your lips, make their place
Laughter fill the breeze from the passerby on the streets
And music be heard where there’s not a note on the sheets

We leave the season of withering
Remembering all that the year has wrought
And enter a new year’s beginning
To cherish the earnings our work has brought

Light in the eyes of the children at play
Joy in the sound of our voice
Think of the things we might do today
As all through the Reach we rejoice!

Music be heard where there’s not a note on the sheets
Laughter fill the breeze from the passerby on the streets
And smiles, on your lips, make their place
As cheer finds your heart in these days

Dwayna embrace you with splendors unfurled
Grenth leave you walking in this shining world
As they share of their fortune in this winter harmony
Six smile upon ye, cheerful may your day be

The Joys of Ascalon

Snow on the ground,
Hearth warm at home,
Come gather ’round
There’s joy to be known!

Let us share amongst each other,
And lift our spirits higher
And trade with one another
As we linger by the fire

Buildings are glistening
With holiday cheer
Children are listening
To all they can hear

As story after story of glory is told
Of honor and kindness, rewards for the bold
And dreams are encouraged to take seed and grow
In this season of charity’s glow

Light on the wall
Far to the north
And for once, no pall
Of the war driving forth

Perhaps ’tis a gift
From the Six far beyond
Granted to lift
With the light of the dawn

The faithful, the earnest,
The kind, and the strong
Who now have burnished
Their armor so long

Travel to the heart of Ascalon City
Look upon the streets, so fair and pretty
For even ‘grim’ folk of land so gritty
Can be cheerful, and joyous, and witty

The cold can’t reach
Our hearts at least
Nor taint the speech
We share at feast!

See how the year
Comes to a close
With travelers near
Who have braved the roads

We take them in
To our very own homes
And we share again
The joys we have known!

Hopeful Charge

Over lands so lush with life
Smile on us, smile on us
Beauty and treasure is so rife
Smile on us, smile on us

We keep what you have left behind
Worries true, memories true
And pray you will return in time
Shining new where warm winds blew

Snowflakes falling all around
Making the world so soft and white,
Like a blanket o’er the ground
To dazzle and sparkle every night

Wintersday is coming
When battle must occur
Hear the echoes drumming
As we seek our succor

Snowmen stand on every lane,
Short or tall, round or lean,
As the song begins again
To paint the winter scene

Dwayna will give to us a new, warm spring
Grenth must relinquish first the cold he brings

See the children running
Over hills piled in snow?
Like the fox so cunning
They build their sleighs to quickly go!

Dancing fills the halls
Where splendor lived at large
As we try to heed the calls
Of those who gave us our charge

Happiness will spread from here
Traveling swift and sure
For word of mouth will catch the ear
Or the spirit be the lure

To summon the best of men
Who live their lives in their own times
And bring them ’round to here again
To share with us their pretty rhymes

Warm Wintersday

Warm winter days are here again,
Or so say our friends from the north
When sand becomes snow in the streets again
And toy makers all earn their worth

Wintersday baubles are all around
Hanging up high and displayed on the ground
Presents are wrapped up under the boughs
Of trees laden down with decor

Laughter and merriment is the sound
‘neath our fair sky with the Golden Sun crowned
And bakers are selling pound after pound
Of treats to those seeking more

Dance with us in Kamadan
As we twirl and we sing and we play
Sparkle does the Jewel of Istan
On the festival of Wintersday!

See all the candy canes lined up in rows?
The lights twinkling for your eyes?
Look how the gleam off the ornament glows
As children await their surprise!

Wintersday baubles are all around
Hanging up high and displayed on the ground
Presents are wrapped up under the boughs
Of trees laden down with decor

Laughter and merriment is the sound
‘neath our fair sky with the Golden Sun crowned
And bakers are selling pound after pound
Of treats to those seeking more

A new year dawns on the morrow
So take cheer here with your fellows
And let’s all forget all our sorrow
As the fool of Wintersday bellows

And see how they’re all dressed in colors
To suit this fair season of joy
As each one meets with their brothers
To hand out a toy to each good girl and boy?

Wintersday baubles are all around
Hanging up high and displayed on the ground
Presents are wrapped up under the boughs
Of trees laden down with decor

Laughter and merriment is the sound
‘neath our fair sky with the Golden Sun crowned
And bakers are selling pound after pound
Of treats to those seeking more

Where could you ever hope to be?
That could compare to our city?
So fair and shining on the sea
For this Wintersday harmony?

Caroler’s Farewell

Gingerbread men in gingerbread houses
Candycane lanes in gumdrops surrounded
Shiny red paper and shiny red bows
Wrapping up toys while winter light glows

Now the world is full and brimming
Bells and voices truly ringing
As we all share in festive trimming
Of house and trees to the season’s singing

Moonlight falls over moonlit stalls
Of markets filled from door to walls
With stylish hats and stylish scarves
That children want for their snowmen carved

And the gingerbread may dance and play
And tempt our friends to wander brave
To snow-peaked hills of winter day
For a cherished beauty they might save

Now the land is white in the winter light
And the stars shine bright overhead at night
As we share our gifts and we mend our rifts
From the year now passed as our time, it drifts

And as the cold relinquishes
So spring follow flow once again
Hold tight to your winter wishes
And we will hope that you find them then

So now gather ’round listen to the sound
Of we carolers on this icy ground
We wish you to hear of the season’s cheer
And to know we wish you the best next year!
