Embrace

Been a few days since my last update. Holidays got crazy, and likely will again later this month, but for now at least I have a poem to share. Not sure where one might use it in an RP setting, but I’m sure it would have a place. My inspiration was from my bard’s older sister in GW2.

Embrace

Sister of mine…

I’ve seen your smile,
I’ve heard your laughter, and ever after,
How can I stand without your hand?

You should be here with me today
Not wandering so far away
You belong by my side
And I belong by yours

I can see into you more than you wish I would
And I know you more than you dreamed I could
I feel your pain inside and your want to keep me safe
I know the reasons why you have lost your faith

Breathe in, breathe out, but don’t just breathe
Live for yourself, don’t rage and seethe
For there is beauty in you, in all you have done
And this beauty rings true to outshine the sun

Oh my sister, rose of thorn –
As a blister will hurt and scorn –
So your defenses, heavily borne
Take their toll and leave you worn

Yet the strength to persevere
Shines in your eyes so bright and clear
You are so strong and so much braver
I’ve known all along you’ll never waiver

Oh my sister, with smile bright as star,
You must bestir, and shed the scar…
Born of the shadows in our past to mar
The beauty found in life so far…

Walk with me on this long, old road
And promise me, you’re not alone
Feel my presence here with you
Begin, this walk anew

I can see into you more than you wish I would
And I know you more than you dreamed I could
I feel your pain inside and your want to keep me safe
I know the reasons why you have lost your faith

It’s all I can ask, and all I can plead for
That you will laugh, and smile once more…
And might learn to love what I cherish most
So we rise above our darkest ghost

Confide in me, my sister dear
Don’t harbor fear of what I hear
No judgment rests within my soul
For you who’ve kept me safe and whole

…sister of mine.
