The Streets of Nevirande

This is yet another tavern song… What can I say? They spent a long time in a tavern in the campaign I’m running right now and at least a dozen little poems were written to fit the mood of the establishment. Besides, they’re fun to write. 🙂 This one is set in my own homebrew world so the city name probably won’t be familiar (Nevirande), but as always, I have no qualms with people adapting it for their own campaigns.

The Streets of Nevirande

Half a do-zen
Hearts are break-ing
In the streets of Nevirande~

Half a do-zen
Maids are weep-ing
In the homes of Nevirande~

The Snow Prince came and left,
A maiden’s caught his hand,
And some would call it theft,
But I hear said
And I hear often
She’s the fairest elf we have in this land~

And a do-zen
Nobles whis-per
In the dark of Nevirande~

How could they have
Ever missed her
In the halls of Nevirande?

The Snow Prince came and left
This maiden’s hand in his
And they may feel it’s theft
But I hear said
And I hear often
He won’t be her first kiss!

Now a do-zen
Fathers curs-ing
At their kin in Nevirande~

All it took was
Maiden’s beauty
In the heart of Nevirande~

The Snow Prince came and left
A maiden now to wed
Yet they still say it’s theft
But I hear said,
And I hear often
No lass will share his bed!
