The Cost of a Wench

And another saucy tavern song. I guess it’s worth mentioning, the whole introductory scene to my current campaign took place in a low-class tavern.. So that’s where most of these are coming from, though there’s a couple coming up here that are less… “low-class”. So keep posted! And as always, feel free to use any of these in your own campaigns!

The Cost of a Wench

Who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?
Or a wench to pinch for a copper that glints?
And one not of blood that would get us a lynch?
Who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?

I’ve got a copper or two to spare
One for the road and one for the fair
Give me a lady with silver-white hair
And I’ve got a copper or two I could spare!

Alas, but a lady and wench are not one
The first is a melon, the second a plum
And the cost of a lady when all’s said and done
Is more than the copper or two spent on fun!

Will you marry me? Will you care for me?
Will you wine me and dine me and cherish me?
Come and sing to me! Buy a ring for me!
And then dress me all up in your finery!

What is the worth of a lady’s fuss?
A copper? Most certainly not, I trust,
Lest you have a love of her comely bust
That’s more than your love for the wench’s lust!

Me? I’ve a passion for life and for love
And spending each day like it counts!
I’ll not idly toil and be dreaming of
A gentler, sweeter account.

So who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?
Or a wench to pinch for a copper that glints?
And one not of blood that would get us a lynch?
Who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?

There’s just so much more fun to be had,
With a lass who’s no lady at all, my dear lad!
Who’ll not shiver and tremble and call you a cad,
If you offer her services some might call bad!

If coin is the question, best not be the fool
To win ye a lady whose heart may be true!
No, settle for one who would share in your brew
And not have a care if you snore or you drool!

So who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?
Or a wench to pinch for a copper that glints?
And one not of blood that would get us a lynch?
Who’s got a copper to pinch for a wench?
